I think the eyes have hands down. Seeing your pictures is like walking in India with you.
Balazs Pataki  Oh no, you can't enjoy all the booze and my daily 3 packs of cigarettes like this. Nothing beats the real thing ;) Thanks!

Jézus ezek a szemek... én megijedtem to''le.

Color? Hey Balazs! Congrats!:-)) And no processing! Great!

Robert
Balazs Pataki  Of course there's lots of processing here. Originally, this was a 10 year old blond girl. Hell of an editing job!
Robert  Jesus!:-)))))

Balazs,

India photos are starting to show up from you - glad you present it in colour.

Congrats!

Colmar
Balazs Pataki  I took this on the very last day... knew that once back, there's not much to photograph. Obviously it was worth to go out for a last picture-hunt. Dankie Colmar.

Getting close to people again! Excellent!
Balazs Pataki  If your portrait lens screwed up and all you have is wide-angle, you don't have much of a choice other than getting closer :))

the windows of his soul, indeed...

Amazing colored portrait Balasz. A la Steve Mc Curry.
Balazs Pataki  Thanks a lot - I admire him, but most of his work wouldn't make it here for lack of impact :)))
StamatisGR  I cannot resist your humor! :)))
Balazs Pataki  No buddy, I mean it. He took most of his portraits as a head-on or 2/3 torso shot. That's very 1980s. It's not so evident on his homepage (http://www.stevemccurry.com) where he displays the best of the best, but I have a Taschen book with about 200 portraits by him and most of them were made using this approach. The best ones are those where he could make better use of shadows, colors and DOF. That's art. 90% percent though is more documentary-anthropology than art, something very hard to get published here and I don't know why...

I opened this and was staggered by the beauty of the color! It felt like he came into my office here! I think the trip has brought you harmony because it shows in this picture. Just fantastic!! :) Bravo for you. Phyllis
Balazs Pataki  It was made on the most chaotic day of the trip which was as far from harmony as I am from the cup of tea you would offer me if I stepped in to your home right now... thanks dear Phyllis. I'll reply to your pic in Critique soon.

great shot Balazs!

I love Amritsar and the Sikhs, such a powerful spiritual atmosphere there. :)
Balazs Pataki  It's actually Delhi, Sisganj gurdwara, probably a better place for photographers than Amritsar because less tourists go there and foreign visitors are more welcomed. Thanks Nicolas!

Awesome B. Your work has made me want to take pure images (with only basic editing). That's one of the reasons I'm changing camera at the moment. Hope I can achieve that. Regards Bob

Not sure i want to be quite that close. Colour! wooo! Be careful, everybody will be trying it now.
Balazs Pataki  If your only lens that's working properly is a 17-40 wide angle, your only choice is to get close... thanks.

Oh bugger - you have done it! Congratulations with your 1st colour image, and a very special one at that!! Really special portrait this!
Oh well, I guess that will cost me the 12 beers:(
Andre
Balazs Pataki  You can make it into 6 bottles of Oude Kaap rood :))) Thanks for the wake-up call.
Andre du Plessis  This came up on the bottom row of the FP tonight, and it reminded me of the Oude Kaap Rood. I have not delivered on that yet. Hmmmm....I owe you.
Andre du Plessis  2nd look at this - less rushed now. I especially like how the person in the back adds to this. Portraiture (non studio) to me is so much more meaningful when there is a reference in the frame to the surroundings that subject was photographed in, or anything that refers back to the subject. This a good example where that element just adds that extra bit to an already superb image. I think it is the way that we see life - always someone in the context of their surrounds, and here that is so subtely done.
