Very cool take on this subject. This image jars my senses and stimulates my imagination. The icy figure in the middle appears to be clinging to those rocks for dear life, hoping not to fall into the misty abyss. And that same icy figure looks almost human - amazing.

Hallo Ursula,

die Aufnahme gefaellt mir sehr. Bei den Baeumen unten rechts hadere ich ein wenig mit dem Schnitt des Bildes.

Gruss Franz
Ursula I Abresch  Thank you for writing, Franz. Yeah, it is not a conventional "cut", and I am not entirely sure myself it works all the way. It is difficult to try and give a sense of proportion in situations like this one. :)
Franz Schumacher  Danke fuer die ausfuehrliche Info Ursula. Ja, das war auch mein Gefuehl, dass die Proportionen meinen Auge nicht so recht zusagen wollten. Stimmt. Schwierig ist so etwas immer. Danke noch mal für Deine Info.

Gruss Franz

nothing cliche' about your images for sure, Ursula. Another compelling 'out-of-the-box' treasure here!
Ursula I Abresch  Thank you, Doug! That is one of the most beautiful comments I've ever received!

This image is a visual treat with so many interesting elements. I would NEVER have thought to include the trees... or the snow for that matter. I would probably have just shot the falls straight on. The trees are vital here to A) add a sense of scale, and B) anchor and balance the composition. So well thought out
Ursula I Abresch  I did shoot the falls straight on, although not from this point, as you can't really shoot them "straight on" from here. But when I look at my straight on Lower Falls images, they look sort of like postcards, and like I've seen them before, and that is very frustrating, not because I don't like looking at them, but because it is not a very original picture. So sometimes I try to do something a little different to see if it might work. Thank you for your comment!

An exceptional POV Ursula. I adore picture like this where the falls are all misty...such atmosphere. I have always thought Yellowstone was one of our best treasures.:) I am glad you are able to enjoy it and capture its beauty.MY best, Phyllis

Ursula I Abresch  Thank you, Johan. I never noticed the shapes until Mal pointed them out below!

I had mixed feeling at screening... disturbed by the trees. But it is true that without them the sense of scale will be lost. And also now I notice a somewhat human/animal shape of this block of snow. So yes, great shot for a great place.
Ursula I Abresch  I had mixed feelings making it :) I never did notice the shapes in the snow until Mal pointed them out. But the compo, yes, I was worried about it. I still am not sure it really works, but it's sometimes fun to try stuff.

baby snow bear tries to climb rock face....:D
Ursula I Abresch  Riiiight! :) You know something macabre ... there was a guy that jumped here this past summer, at the top of the falls (which you can't see here), but he jumped right into this blue hole. They found part of his clothing a few days later. They said it was only the second recorded death at the Lower Falls, the other being an accident.

Bizarre & beautiful. I love how you left the tree tops to create a sense of scale otherwise this could easily be a macro!
Ursula I Abresch  Yeah, this whole place is bizarre. It is very difficult to figure out how to give a sense of scale, and a sense of how deep this canyon is. Thank you, gerard!

Breaks the rules very successfully to provide a concise summary of the alpine atmosphere. I like this!
Ursula I Abresch  Martin, thank you! You made my day :)
