few times you said about lucky to reply comments but in my opinion is more about your talent, Balazs! regards, Unggul
Balazs Pataki  Yes of course, it's just modesty because I am the World's Biggest Photographer. (Too bad that only my mother believes that.)

Are those his finger on his left shoulder? Excellent work, and the flash is just right.
Balazs Pataki  Yes, he was carrying a backpack which overthere means a basket with shoulder strings. Many thanks for taking your time, my liege.

He sure looks like a man with strength of character, as well as physical strength. In your photo with the rugged background it leaves me thinking.."this is a man I could depend upon"! Very very well done Balazs. My best, Phyllis
Balazs Pataki  Ohhh I don't know if you could depend upon him, probably he would be away for the better part of the year building roads in the mountains... Many many thanks for your kind words, Phyllis. And don't forget about that mirrored portrait...
Phyllis Clarke  Ah..that is the end of my fantasy. :) Phyllis

Very nice light
Balazs Pataki  I'm glad people like the use of flash here - it's not always the case with 1X portraits... some people are adamantly against it. Thanks Pedro.
Pedro Pais  Well I'm probably not representative of the 1X people but it's my opinion at least.

Good to see it published! Congrats!

Robert
Balazs Pataki  Yes, came as a surprise after my recent rejects of the same style... danke!
Robert  I have one in critique:-) That is why i am happy to see yours here! This kind a photograph becomes very seldom here! Especially the use of flash which you did excellent!
Balazs Pataki  Yeah, sometimes I read reactions - for some, using a flash in portrait or street is like talking about the devil in a nunnery...

Deep strong portrait...
Balazs Pataki  Thanks Ricky, good to hear from you.
Ricky Siegers  Hi Balazs, I am in Budapest now. I was in the district 8 en 9 like what you told me. Just to bad the whole day is rain.
So no picture, I hope tomorow got my luck.
If not I just gonna explore the city :)
Balazs Pataki  Good luck, I wish I was there with you!

very good portrait. Did you use flash? Thanks.
Balazs Pataki  I used a 580EXII on a 5DMk2 with 17-40/4L @40, EV 1/200, AV 7.1, ISO 200. Camera: no expo compensation, flashlight: set to -1, flash head position: horizontal. Camera: set on shiftable program automatic. Sometimes it works... Thanks Carlos.

Masterful use of flash, and a portrait to become absorbed in, cannot stop looking.
Balazs Pataki  Thanks Alex but there's nothing masterful about it. I know a nature photographer who used 8 flashes set up in an infrared trap to photograph kingfishers. Now _that's_ masterful. I see that many people feel strange towards using a flash but it's not hazardous for our health. I mean, mine did never bite me so far...
Alex OBrien  I guess I'm scared of using flash as my photos won't differ from the photos of me on my facebook profile. I'll give it a go... :)

Excellent again. I know that it is a biq question (maybe you could answer in a forum post or something), but how do you get so close to people? (sorry if I sound like an amateur)
Balazs Pataki  An interesting subject Thomas - maybe worth a forum discussion to share our tricks? One thing that's always working is a polaroid picture - in 99 out of 100 cases, it creates wonderful chemistry with all "models" and besides breaking the ice it's also an excellent reward for letting me photograph them. For many, it's the only photograph they'll ever have of themselves!
Thomas Madsen  I would be glad to see this discussed more in a forum discussion.

Balazs, this is one of my favorites from your last trip. i love what you are doing with flash lately. You are making me seriously consider incorporating it. A pleasure to look at and observe!
d
Balazs Pataki  Hi Daniel, a fill-in flash is essential overthere - the sun is merciless and casts strong shadows on the faces. Adjusting the flash to -2/3 to -2 is usually enough to avoid overexposure. Thanks for commenting!

Balazs,

I am online and up it popped - I really like this one!

My congratulations on getting it published - into the favourites!

Go well.

Colmar
Balazs Pataki  I wonder how I will have to pay for this strain of luck - breaking a leg, car burglared during night, baby eating a CF card? Dankie!
