using the rule of thirds you isolate the persons face to the left and focus on the smile with the bottom third line. Helps direct the eyes exactly as the artist intended.
Thomas Holtkoetter  Many thanks for your kind comment, Jyothis.

Thomas,

I thought you only did Architecture - obviously not!

So often one hears/reads about avoiding "dead space" in a picture - of course, it is often justified. But not here - here the blackness in the frame forms an excellent backdrop to concentrate my eye and mind on the lady of 95. It also, to me, presents a certain boundary that to someone of 95 takes on a different meaning!

Excellent viewpoint.

In summary - excellent Black and White portrait and deservedly here!

Go well.

Colmar
Thomas Holtkoetter  Hi Colmar, many thanks for your comment !
No, I'm trying all kind of photography, but unfortunately without too much success.
Therefore I'm always really happy if a non-architectural shot is getting published.

All the best,
Thomas

Hi Thomas
I remember the color version in screening and critique but the BW is completely different...I'm happy you vitalized your photo...just a simple question... did the screeners tell you to do so or just the critique and comment or maybe a simple retry? :)
Thomas Holtkoetter  Many thanks, Siavash !
Coming to your question :
No, the screeners didn't tell me to improve the photo - I worked on it due to the critique advices only and made a re-upload.
