Lonely
An early color turner waits patiently for the rest of the leaves to change during an unusually late fall. Luckily, he has a good view to enjoy

Amazing shot! I'm curious: this is a longer exposure from the smooth water, but did you focus on the leaf, or the background? I'm having "issues" with my 24-70 and with keeping everything in focus... suggestions? :)
mm767cap  Hi Joshua. Thanks so much!! I had the same trouble here at 70mm. There is no way to keep the entire scene in focus at this DOF. What I did was shoot the image with the leaf in focus, and then shoot it again with the same exposure doing nothing more than changing the focus to that middle rock outcropping to the left. At that range, the entire rest of the scene was in focus. Then you just combine them in PS, blending the two sections that are in focus. One thing that you have to be careful of is that even though you haven't moved the tripod, the different focus points actually changes the focal length slightly, so when you lay the two images over each other, you need to perform and "Auto-align layers". Hope this helps. Shoot me an email if you have any other questions!
Joshua Smith  mm767cap,
this is absolutely brilliant. I'll have to practice this a bit for my landscapes, but it is SUCH a great tip! Thanks for taking the time to explain it. Best of luck!!
mm767cap  MORE than happy to. Hope it works for you! Shoot me an email if you run into trouble!

I love this - Where is punchbowl Falls? Is it by the Devil's Punchbowl?
mm767cap  Hi Erin. Thanks! So pleased that you like it. Punchbowl Falls is up in the Columbia River Gorge. Its about 2 miles up the Eagle Creek Trail. When you get up there, and hike down the path to the falls, you will see a lower falls to your right and a large open area in front of you. The falls are actually upstream around the corner. During most of the year, you won't be able to see them without wading out into the creek. It's SLICK and has some fast water, so be careful!!
