Great shot Mark - love the connection between the motion of the crowd and the neon sign. Colouring is great too. I know exactly where this was taken!
mark boyle  Thanks Jonathan, yes it is the much photographed water window entrance to the Victorian art gallery.

great motion, textures and color! The kind of shot I wish I took!! :-)))
mark boyle  Thanks Patricia.
I really like trying to capture that combination of 'frozen' elements and motion in the street with a tripod. It is very hit and miss, I find a location and the composition I like and then wait for some interaction to occur. Mostly it does not produce anything of interest, but sometimes it does.

Mark, I loved this image in screening, and I like it even better here now. I've been wondering about one thing about it though, ever since I first saw it. At the bottom, towards the left, the two skin coloured shapes (arms? legs?), are they there intentionally? My brain has been telling me all along that if those two shapes weren't there, the image would be stronger. Yet, I wonder if you left them there intentionally. Anyway.
mark boyle  Thank you Ursula, much appreciated.

I did leave them in, mainly because I liked the counter-balance between them and the Dali sign at the opposite end of the picture. However, I do think the photo would probably be more aesthetically balanced without them.
Angela Bacon-Kidwell  I love the hand/legs- like a painting.

For me your surrealistic concept worked while looking at your image in screening.
It still works :-)
I like it.
mark boyle  Thanks KPK.

Dripping faces?.....sorry an after thought.....is this the point?

I have to be honest, I am not sure what Dali and girl scratching her head have in common......maybe I am missing something here....image looks quite nice Mark but lacking a little for me.......would love to hear your intentions...best regards Darren
mark boyle  Hi Darren
No great intention here, just an interesting juxtaposition between the sign for a Dali exhibit, a woman having her picture taken in front of it and the blur of people walking past. Consider it my own little homage to the concept of 'surrealism', or not.
Darren - MaxHamish  Hey Mark, thanks for the reply, it must work because I have come back for another look...a different approach..the more I look the more feel dripping faces......maybe I can learn something here.....cheers
