This peer is used by the local fishermen. This was taken during the high-tide, on the low tide the water completely disapears.

A very very very good composition. Just love it.
The HDR effect is great on the wooden dock, a bit too strong on the sea.
The sky color is good, goes well with the rest of the photo.

This is really amazing. Seen a lot of HDR, this one nails it tho. How long were your exposures? Did you autobracket your shots?and how does that work with moving water??

the exposures where f/13 1/6 and 1/20 seconds, almost 2EV diference, shot manually, no bracketing.

It is almost impossible to create a decent HDR that contais moving objects, such as water. so what I did was: after creating the HDR and after tone-mapping it on Photomatix, I imported the resulting TIFF to Photoshop, and merged it with the photo that had the best exposure on the water (I believe 1/6). since I wanted a silky-smooth water, I then reduced the oppacity of that layer to about 80% ;)

Its amazing how different people have so different points of view... I was shooting here with a couple of friends, both having Ultra-Wide-Angle lens, and this was the most "dramatic" shot of the day... I was shooting with my faithfull Nikkor 24-85, but for this shot I wanted a "extra-kick" in perspective, so I grabbed my sloppy (but image-quality-wise reliable) 18-55 f/3.5-5,6 (my widest lens at the time, I know have the nikkor 12-24 f/4 AF-S). Amazing piece of glass, wrapped all-over with low-quality plastic.

Will have to go there again, never actually grabbed a stormy sky there (or any clods at all, for that matter!)
so, "onesixright", when you visit Portugal, let me know, and I'll take you there ;)
