An immense waterfall way up in the Oregon forest left me slack-jawed and feeling that I'd just stepped into a different era of time

Is this Proxy Falls? My family used to hike to Proxy all the time when I was a kid. Easily one of my favorite spots in Oregon. Thanks for reviving some great memories.

As soon as I saw this photo I knew the exact location, and wished my photos of the falls turned out a beautifully. My wife and I made the short hike to these falls in September, and had the same other-worldly feeling as the photographer. I commented at the time that it was one of the most beautiful places in the world.

mm767cap  Ahhhhh! You got to see the mighty Proxy, huh Jim? I agree that it is about as stellar a place as one can find on earth. I found myself just standing around in awe, admiring its beauty. Really one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. Thanks for the kind comment.

this is very beautiful shot. I loved it in screening, and I am glad to see it published.

Best Regards Semir
mm767cap  Thanks so much Semir! I was really happy this got published, as I've heard that straight waterfall pics are not terribly popular here
Semir  You are right, there are not many of these photos on 1x anymore, wich is sad.. Thats why I am glad to see this one.. It is beautiful and it deserves to be here..

Best regards Semir :)

Very cool! Does this fall have a name? I've always wanted to visit this area in Oregon.
mm767cap  It sure does, Lars. It's called Proxy Falls, and its on the Old McKenzie Highway between Eugene and Bend. A word of warning; the road closes in October usually and doesn't open up until late May, early June due to snow, so its a summer only kind of shot. WELL WORTH the trip up there though.
