Red Estuary
I awoke well before dawn this morning but decided not to travel to the mountains but explore closer to home. The red dawn was so intense that it was tricky to capture well but I think it compliments the wee red boat somewhat, an otherwise fairly mundane scene.

red touches. and snow do the pic I really like this kind of image,
John Parminter  No snow Veronigue, just wet sand reflection, cheers.
JP
Véronique Soulier  I'm leaving in the moutains surrounded by snow shining in the sun this morning and I really see at first sight this white sand as snow.. as the boat his white in upper part too, it was not so strange; all Europe has so much snow falls this year, UK too I think,

Sorry for my mistake but I still fan of the pic ,-)) greetings form the Alps

Sometimes the best photographs are right under our noses!!! Lovely colours in this one.
John Parminter  Yes Heather, a fab image can be made anywhere as long as you look and the conditions are favourable I reckon.

I like this John. The almost monochrome look, except for the red/orange, sets it apart.

Nice, John, I voted for this and I'm pleased to see it here. The snow/ice was a pleasant surprise when I opened this up from thumbnail. The composition with the chain leading the eye is wonderful, the colors are superb--really a beautiful image.
John Parminter  Cheers John, I'm very surprised a lot of people have confused the wet sand for snow and ice reading all the comments. This image was taken only last weekend, mid september, although you will not necessarily know this from the image.
There was a little reflection on the sand and all I did was increase the highlights to give what I thought was a pleasing silvery effect to counter the reds in the sky, it never occured to me that it looked like ice or snow.
How deceiving I have become...:-)

JP
johnpainter  Wow, that's really something! It's funny, it didn't look like winter color to me, but I figured it was just my ignorance of your area. Well, snow or sand--its still gorgeous.

A well composed photo with interesting colors (saturated, warm red vs. cold, blueish grey)!
(The effect of the grad-filtre could perhaps be a bit mor subtle, so the foreground is quite bright compared to the sky - just nitpicking...=) )
John Parminter  I see your point Flash, I actually intended the foreground to be quite bright and silvery looking and increased this a bit in PP.

Cheers,

JP
Flash  Then I'd perhaps also brighten a thin stripe at the horizon to give the light a source (and probably also make the sky look even more dramatic).

Just beautiful,love the colors
I love the contrast between the warm red color from the left side of the photo against the almost B/W in the right side. I have to force me to get up early to try to find this wonderful dawn colors. Great photo John.

The sand looks like it was snow:) And the colors of the sunset with this sand-like effect makes this picture unique! Well done!

This is just incredible John. Proves that light conquers all. Love the way you've balanced the reds here.
John Parminter  The reds were tricky to capture correctly and were a tad blown in camera but I managed to bring them back in RAW conversion and tweak the best out of them in PP.

Cheers,
JP

Now this is what I call a rich image. Especially spectacular because you managed to capture - in glorious detail - the contrast between the almost monochromatic lower right and the fiery intensity of its diagonal opposite. Excellent work, John.
