Nice, long exposure (I'm assuming). Very moody. Nice placement of the tree in relation to the edges of the hills.

Despite many +ve comments, this was rejected the first time around (too dark, bad crop, etc), so I posted it on critique, re-worked the image in light of the criticisms and re-posted it a few days ago. It takes a while, sometimes... persistence is essential.

John Parminter I'm thrown by the night sky but bright spot, is it the moon? or a creative edit?

paintednegative Nope, its the moon. It was overwhelmingly bright on this pitch black night; the diffuse light is because of the long exposure. What was most surprising to me is that I managed to get some details in the stars as well. No creative editing, but marginal post-processing: removing noise, adding blue toning and tweaking star brightness. Otherwise, image is pretty much as was seen and shot.
