Buried
After wading out to a rock island to shoot, it became apparent that getting a picture would require timing the run down to this vantage point between waves. Seconds after I shot this image, I was absolutely buried by water.

I am still trying to convince myself that this is a photograph rather than a painting. Again, fantastic work!
mm767cap  What a very kind comment, Zufar. I really appreciate it.

Aaaauuugh. .. I missed this one. It's like a beautiful painting. I've had such a scenery depression since coming back to Texas. I want to go back and spend a month in Oregon! Do you have a website to post/sell your photos? I would love to see more of your photography -- even the ones that 1x -- you know: "Unfortunately . . . " :)
mm767cap  Thanks Sandy :) I can image that the landscape opportunities in Texas are every so slightly less frequent than they are here. I don't have a website set up; have been thinking of doing so. In the meantime, you can find the rest of my stuff on Flickr if you have an account there. http://www.flickr.com/photos/9037047@N08/

I've got an "Unfortunately" coming up again right about now... :) Yikes.
Great, great picture. I really appreciate the values finesse you managed to keep here. Nature enhanced.
mm767cap  THanks so very much! I'm truly pleased you like this!

You live in such a beautiful part of the country. Gorgeous capture--the colors, light and moment captured--so lovely!
mm767cap  Thanks so much Barbara. I sure am lucky to live here! 2 hours to the coast and less than that to the mountains. Stunning photographic playground.

hello
i love your pic
would you tell me how you did it?
aperture, shutter time etc. .......
the water looks kinda like an painting
greats and congrats
mm767cap  Hi RIchard. Thanks so much! The aperture is f/16, and the shutter speed is 1 second for the water. I blended that with an exposure of around 2 seconds for the rocks, and 1/10th of a second for the sky to bring the exposure under control as I didn't use any graduated filters. In order to get the slow shutter speed under such bright light, I used ISO 100 and a 6 stop-ND filter. Hope this helps!

Love the colours.
Buried by water....did your camera survived?
mm767cap  It did, Annika, thanks! I managed to get the tripod up way over my head at the last second by holding the legs and my camera stayed almost totally dry thank goodness!
Very nice, love the color in this :-)

Excellent captured, very nice effect :)
what filters you used for this???
mm767cap  Thanks so much Edy! I used a 6-stop ND filter for this image to get the shutter speed down for the water to soften it. I took 3 exposures and blended them. 1 for the sky, 1 for the rocks, and one for the water.
