Depression
The Mood of Depression - allround everything black and the feeling of being hemmed or wedged in - there is no harmony in the picture; it is intended to be presented this way. The picture was taken through a frosted window pane in very low light.

Colmar, this isso excellent. Having experienced the dark presence of depression myself on occasion, I understand just how illustrative this is. You nailed the capture of this dark experience. Even more powerful seeing that presence it in a little boy. Amazing work.
Colmar Wocke  Sandy,

Your comment lifted my own "minor depression" of the last few days - thanks sooo much. I am a great admirer of your own Portfolio here.

We all skirt and flirt with depression at some point - myself included.

My model for this picture is a VERY SPECIAL person, who has all the grounds for being depressed and yet isn't. In fact, he serves as an upliftment to so many. So many. He too, is very pleased that "his" picture made it to the Front Page on OneXposure.

Thanks for taking the time to actually write a commentary after viewing the picture - it makes it so much more special to me!

Go well.

I needed look again at your picture. Somehow I have it in my brain all time. You make it very unconventional in all aspects. I would have never the idea show a picture with not strait lines. Never would have show a processing like yours. I will tell you why. I am creative and imaginative but always too much technical. Pure and raw emotions or feelings in us are never very clear. Emotions and feelings are strong and taking over making us far away from our normal behave. To express this in a picture they are many ways but when I look at my pictures then I find out that I am too much up to technical issues. I took your picture and thought of what I wane do and have done and searching in my hard drives and find lots of I tried already to be more creative like you and I find some pictures they are, which I like now much better as the time I make them.
Thanks for the inspiration! Master!:-)

Robert
Colmar Wocke  Meister,

Thank you, once again for taking extra time to comment on the picture. Yes, emotions are tough to put into a picture - sometimes we have no other way but to apply them thick in the picture.

This was a little internal achievement for me, to get the picture accepted - I've had it for some time on my computer.

Go well and keep well.

The way you have shown depression here is exceptionally creative as well as heartfelt. No sentimental stuff..just raw feeling. It makes me think..I can see him..but really he is worlds away..and that comes through from not being about to see him clearly...This shows your skills as well as your sensitivity to people. Bravo. :) Phyllis
Colmar Wocke  Phyllis,

Your words mean so much to me, in connection with this photo. My model is also very happy to see the picture up and its acceptance has also done a lot for him. I am thus doubly happy that it got accepted here.

Many people stop and look but not all write comments - thanks for leaving me your thoughtful message!

As always, go well.

I wonder by which margin this was accepted. You are very lucky. And I'm happy for you, because it is always good to see that people dare to look at photos with an open mind and forget about rules. Great mood, need less to say, scary, thought-inspiring. God invented noise and pixels as a tool to show how the world can fall apart.
Colmar Wocke  Balasz,

It was a risky submittance by me - like I said lower down rejection can lead to depression in itself.

If ever I needed confirmation that there are people on OneXposure that are open to artistic interpretation this picture was it.

How to convey emotion in a picture? - tough challenge. I am so, so glad that the picture made it - I pulled it back after having put it into screening, only to resubmit it half an hour later with almost no changes! But, it made it even if by the slimmest of margins.

Thanks for the comments and the favourite - I hope your enjoying the camera and look forward to seeing what your eye and mind saw.

Wonderful Colmar. It took me about 30 mins to download your photo over here where I am presently in Africa - server relying on solar panels, and no sunshine for 2 days, however, the wait was worth it.
Colmar Wocke  Andre,

Risky one it was this but I personally (for varied reasons) am so, so glad to see it here.

Sometimes fortune favours the brave - brave enough to actually submit.

As always I want to thank you for the support you give me in my photography by commenting on my pictures.

Go well and greetings to SA please.

Wonderful.
Great use of grain.
Hendrik
Colmar Wocke  Hendrik,

Thanks so much - must be my "film roots" coming through here. The grain comes from the frosted pane as well as the low light.

Glad to hear that you find the grain agreeable, like I myself do for this portrayal-

Go well.
