Time forgotten land
There's a wee tale attached to this image. It was an extremely windy day but I was set up with camera on the tripod waiting for the right light. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed something moving, my camera bag had started to roll down the hill. My dilema, chase after it and try and save some expensive lenses and accessories or get the shot. I turned back to the camera and got the shot just as my bag fell over a 20 metre cliff to crash on the rocks below.
Forlornly I made my way down to pick up the pieces but to my amazement the only damage was to an empty polariser case and a small crack to a lens hood.

I nearly cried with relief.

Always be glad that it's not you that gets hurt. The equipment can be replaced. It comes and goes.
Anyway, glad your equipment was ok too.

The second I saw this I knew it was Scotland, not because I recognised the location itself but because I know it's the only place where you get that light and those colours! Great shot, captures the nature of the place perfectly!

That's Skye isn't it? The Quirang or somesuch? Such an unearthly landscape. Your shot really does it justice. Great tale about the lenses ;-)
just read the 'location'. . . I was right, but duh! i should read it first. . .
John Parminter  Yes Jon, its actually the Storr in the Trotternish region just a bit south of the Quiraing. An unearthly place and fab to boot.

Beauty of the world is often so stronger in live, and as we all know it is very difficult to shot natural beauties to be nicer on the picture. But you made it like in dreams. Bravo.
John Parminter  Thanks Dragan, bit of luck really with just the one shot as I was preoccupied saving my gear.

Great image, wonderful scenery!
John Parminter  Hey Jeroen, could have made the shot with any camera, might have even turned out alright with a Canon.....;-)

JP
Jeroen Oosterhof  Yeah, but can I drop a Canon lens from a 20 meter cliff and still walk away a happy man :)
John Parminter  Dunno Jeroen, mine are all Sigma lenses... :-)
