Barbara Read Thanks, Reathel! I'm not sure what that object is other than it is a piece of well worn leather with some punched holes in it. The upper edge is 'wavy' as if shaped by the curves at the base of a person's fingers kind of like a fingerless glove or palm protector. I never gave it much thought until you asked. :-)

Reathel Geary Well it may be something to help handle ropes or cables if this a pair of miners boots. Interesting.

Barbara Read If you ever get a chance, you should visit Garnet. Unlike most ghost town 'museums' there are no labels and one can walk freely around inside the buildings and rooms and touch all that is there--the photographic possibilities are endless. This image was taken in the old hotel--I swear it is haunted. In another room an old rocking chair started to rock all on its own--no loose floor boards, no breeze--it did it several times while I was standing there and scared the bejeebers out of me. Anyways, the problem with no labels though and the fact one can walk freely around and 'touch stuff' is that unless there is a guide there, you really don't know what you are looking at sometimes...
