Really like the 2 diagonals that meet on the sun, beautiful leading lines. The tones are really good and the light too, you still have lot's of detail on the shadows and no highlights blown away.

A sweet shot and a fitting tribute too. A certain surreality to the light which lifts the image no end. Would be very happy to have something like this in my armoury.

What a beautiful tribute to your Aunt Kate! She must have been very special to have such devotion from you! Thank you for sharing her story with us to make your amazing photography even more meaningful.

My husband and I will be travelling to Oregon next week for a whole week of hiking to waterfalls, lakes, and enjoying ocean scenery like this. I would think I had died and gone to Heaven myself if I turn out even one photo that is even a fraction as beautiful as any one of your amazing landscapes! Thank you for the inspiration -- even IF the bar is now quite high and out of reach :)

This was the most important image that I've ever made, at least to me personally, so I'm thrilled and very thankful to those of you that voted for it that it was published. I took this image the morning of the memorial celebration for my Aunt Kate, who passed away recently. I know the colors look a little over the top, but I did very little to the RAW files for this image. The sky colors needed almost no saturation at all, and the exposure that I took for the water was not edited in any way at all, except to brighten it slightly. The almost un-natural feeling of the image matched quite closely the experience of that morning. I found myself wondering if the things I was seeing were real or some sort of early-morning fantasy. I can only speculate that my Aunt Kate delivered this sunrise for me on the very day that I wanted it most, as I begged for a special image to be able to print and give to my family so that this moment in time is remembered forever. I thank her for this one last gift; she was one in a million
