Defeated
Not sure if the vignette on this version is now the main issue...too much and too many stops....?

wonderful! luckily is not raining at the moment or I would go down too.
Richard Ford  When it rains, I always run out with the camera. People do the silliest things in the rain and they also pay less attention to the people/world around them. It is like shooting sitting ducks. ;-)

cool! very moody..do you use the 135mm a lot?

i tried loading a roll of film efficiently and sneakily to get a 37th frame....but i dont think the cogs picked it up proper when i advanced. ended up shooting about 15 shots that came out on one frame before it started advancing!! obviously only found that out after developing. gah!!! :)
Richard Ford  Thanks Zaahir. I am dabbling in deliberate double and triple exposures at the moment....

great mood. love the bw tones. bravo.
Richard Ford  I had to work the micro contrast a bit to get this to look how I like. But that is a feature for some of HP5. I prefer the harder tones and contrast of TMAX 400 and APX 100. I didn't have a filter on which may have helped but it was dark as it was (storm) and I only wanted to push the film to 800 AND I had a long lens.. so could not afford to put the yellow on the front. But software kind of gets you there in the end anyway.
Giorgio Lorcet  Really I like so much this shot, its tones and grain. Maybe you're right about TMAX 400 .. and have you ever used TMAX 3200? I used in the past and I really loved it. Yes, I love grain :)). Now I'm trying to shot portraits with TRI X 400.
Richard Ford  The shot I had published before this one is delta 3200 - but in 120 format....

Very intensive in its impact on the viewer.
Richard Ford  Thanks. I can appreciate how others feel about it... I must confess that it doesn't do too much for me...
Uzay 2 years ago
There is a good taste in this one, i liked it.
Richard Ford  Thanks Uzay.... it was just a spur of the moment shot as we both pulled up at a red light.... I just always have a camera in my hand - lens cap off - stop set and ready to shoot...not much else thought put in. ;-)

I think this is the mood photograph "per se". Probably oen of your very best, Robert. To be honest I don't like the title too much (I'm not sure if I want to look at this in the context you outline with that) but the image is so strong that it doesn't really matter.
Richard Ford  Well frame number 37 - it was a lucky last... I flirted with "Demure" "Deflated" "Depressed" and then settled on "Defeated" as she is in a crowded bus on a busy street in rush hour, can't go anywhere, do anything - just as to roll with it..... Best part? Shot with a USD $10 camera from eBay and old film that someone gave to me that was 4 years expired!
Balazs Pataki  A moment of truth, eh? :))
Richard Ford  Actually seems she and I were in the same boat kind of... but I thought a 135 MM lens may help me keep my sanity until I could get back to shoving 20mm and 28mm lenses in peoples faces. ;-)

It's a lot better now compared when i saw it at the critique,,Good Job Richard
Richard Ford  Thanks Eric. Doing the strategic burning of the eyes, knuckles and ridge between nose and mouth really did help define the face more... the black bar I could have gone either way....

Well, there you go! I am so so pleased that this is now published...and to think it almost lost its way. I have put it in my favorites, but I doubt I will forget her..and for me without that - all the perfect technical aspects will not be enough. So bravo for you on this shot..:) My best, Phyllis
Phyllis Clarke  Richard..fave? It was the first thing I did!! :) I want to be able to go back..and see her again. Look, many others have too..its very popular. Well, you captured that defining moment, and this is truly well deserved. Again..Bravo..Phyllis
Richard Ford  You can now get your wish and select it as a fav! ;-)

Excellent one, Richard, happy to see it here, again I was not able to be of any help when I've seen it in the critique, love both versions! Great image!
Richard Ford  Thanks Codrin... had to rely on the others for this shot - as I had no idea...
