Stairways to Heaven
This is a five-metre-deep water well melted into a glacier at the Novolazarevskaya station. The light acquires a bright blue colour as it travels through the ice.

Really incredible...amazing all your series from these places! Love them!
Wonderfull...
But a dangerous place i think.
Anton Chekalin  Thank you Ludovic! You're right, it's a little bit dangerous to be there under the glaicer (actually the hole high of the glaicer is more than 700 m. - so the right word isn't "under" but "inside") becourse heavily-loaded tractors are moving on the surface of glaicer. Sometimes emptiness can't withstand pressure.

Wow!
This is how we can see how spectacular our mother earth is.
What a great feeling that had to be.
Congrats!
Anton Chekalin  Thanks Guro! It's great feeling to be there - becourse the age of the glacier on this level is more than thousand years - you can taste the absolutely pure ice and water )))

Fantastic! Great color and light.
Isn´t photography fantastic that makes it possible for us to see places we never would have the possibility to visit IRL. This frozen place is a great example! Thanks Anton.
Best regards Carola
Anton Chekalin  Many thanks Carola! It's true - photography makes many things possible. Not only to see but sometimes to feel ))) that's why i think it's kind of magic!

Anton Chekalin  Thank you Suren! Unfortunately this picture was stolen from my russian webgallery several times and replicated at hundreds sites without any permission. But anyway I'm happy place it here!
