Great shot!!! Such a beautiful animals.
I will be going to Durban in April, I plan to dive on Aliwal shoal. I don't have an underwater camera :( Do you know any diving club in Durban which rents UW cameras? Do you have any other tips for diving and photography in Durban as well? Thanks :)
Mikael Jigmo  Happy you liked the picture.
Well not sure were you can rent an UW camera there, i am always bringing my own gear, but check with the dive centre who you are diving with if they know anyone renting out UW cameras.
And enjoy diving with the Tiger sharks or the Oceanic Black tip.
Mato Pavlovic  Thanks for the reply Mikael. With what dive center you have been diving there - would you recommend them?
Mikael Jigmo  African Watersports, and I think they are the best.

Great shot, I hope you will not end doing a macro of this guy's mouth :-)
Mikael Jigmo  Pedro

Thank you so much, well sharks are friendly, in the past all photographers like to shoot when the sharks has their mouth open, but we are a few now who are working on to change the humans attitude of sharks from dangerous to humans to what they really are, predators but humans are not their natural food.

Best regards

Mikael
Pedro GoniO  Yes, sharks are fascinating as predators and as many other predators. As far as I know, the only natural predator of man is tiger, and even he, has a better reputation than the sharks. IMO, all because of constant and frightening documentaries and films. Regards.
Mikael Jigmo  Fully agree, I have talked to a few people who did movies and photos about the sharks in the "old" days, and some of them "regret" them, due to the built a reputation of Sharks which is not correct, and with all the Shark finning still continuing I am afraid shortly their will not be any sharks left.
If you haven't seen Sharkwater you should do so, it is a great movie and also another called Gimme a Hug.

Best regards

Busy place! Great shot! From the Sardine run again?
Mikael Jigmo  Hi Lars

Yes it was a busy place with 40-50 Oceanic Black Tips.
It was a great dive, they went all up to me, touching my camera and swimming between my legs and arms, it was a great dive.
This was actually from Durban, before we went to Mboyti (Sardine Run), we went for Tiger Sharks dives, but we just have a small Tiger (4,5 m) on the surface before we went in, but when we got in to the water he was gone :-(

All the best

Mikael
Lars Grepstad  Wish I can go there soon. Working on getting my wife interested in going to SA. Also for the land animals. Scared her off from diving some years ago. Never take a beginner to a drop-off..
Mikael Jigmo  That is true, but let her get some dives prior to this, the shark are friendly but very interested in you.

What a shot! Gives me the shivers...
Mikael Jigmo  Jeroen

Thank you so much for the nice words.
Sharks are predators but humans are not their natural food, so they re interested who we are, and if you behave normally they wont try to taste and see if they like it or not, they just come up closer to look at us.

Best regards

Mikael
Jeroen Oosterhof  I understand Mikael and i think they are magnificent creatures.
But i would still be a little nervous down there :)

Take care,

It is a school where I'm not sure I love their clases :) Another stunning one, Mikael, love it! Cheers!
Mikael Jigmo  Hi Codrin

Well their classes could be very interesting :-)
We had about 40 -50 of the Oceanic Black Tips swimming around us (we are not in a cage) and they come all the way up to check us up, so sometimes they went to close so I couldn't get my 14 - 24 mm lens to focus on them, but they never tried to taste me or any one else, but you need to know what you do when you are diving with them, but it was a great 60 minutes + dive.
And thanks for your kind words, they men a lot to me.

Best regards
