Underneath it all
Today’s image is the last one in the series of James Lee Stuart. I believe l that it might possibly be the most telling of all my portraits.

Lee took his hat off only once. He wanted to show us the effect that the chemo had on his once full head of hair. It is important to note that he made sure to replace his hat almost immediately upon removing it. Losing his hair had affected Lee greatly.

I snapped this frame just after he had removed his skullcap. It was the only time during the entire shoot that I saw him shy away from the lens. As soon as he heard the shutter click he quickly replaced his cap and moved away from the camera. I feel I captured a more vulnerable side of Lee with this portrait. I really like that it has a distinctly different feel from my previous images.

At any rate, I would love to hear your comments on this series, both as individual shots and as a whole. So, please take a minute to leave your thoughts.
