I was just about to leave a monastery when I saw this young monk sitting at the doorstep of what is a dormitory. With a graceful nod more suitable for an experienced and wise old monk he allowed me to take his photo.

darkened the image slightly, increased contrast and cropped it to a tight frame.

Rosco  Thank you for your obervations. I had luck on my side. The young man simply had the time to wait for me to myself set up. Part of his facial expression seems to show some disbelief about what this tourist is doing to get a photo. :-)

there were some comments about his feet being in focus but not his face. I did do a spotmetering and focussing on his face so that should have been in focus, i wonder why it is a bit less, may be he moved his face just a bit while I pushed the button. On the other hand his stubbed hair is pretty visible so I am not sure whether it is not pinsharp. look at the edges of the robe around his head, that seems to be sharp too

There are therories that state the face should not be pinsharp, what do you think about that in regard to this photo?

The strong colors contrast with the serious face expression. Great.

That red of the robe is to die for. the reds are that deep in reality.
