Summit mushroom
Climbing the last meters of Nevado Chopicalqui's summit mushroom (6354m high). The crux of the route, a very exposed crevasse, can be seen on the right.

Did you go to the top? Seems like a good workout!

Very cool photo!
Alexandre Buisse  Yes, I did make it to the top. And it was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life (which is why I have to do it again, of course :)

Beautiful photo!
Looks wonderful with all that snow and it seems you had pretty good weather :-)
Alexandre Buisse  It was wonderful. But the weather was the worst they had seen in the season, half of the climb was under wind and snow, and clouds obstructed most of the view from the top so we couldn't see much below 5500m.

Wonderful!
Alexandre Buisse  Thanks.

Some cornice that.
Alexandre Buisse  The snow formations in South America are simply crazy...
John Parminter  Indeed Alex, to the point of bordering on madness trying to predict where it is safe or not...!!
These guys don't appear to be roped neither??

I'll stick to the Scottish highlands.... :)

JP
Alexandre Buisse  Oh no, they were roped, you just can't see it at this resolution. Bar the crevasse on the right and a few exposed traverses, the route was relatively safe, there were no insane gullies like on Alpamayo (that stuff is for next time ;)
John Parminter  I think it must look far more dramatic in picture Alex, which is a good indictment on your photography.

Congratulations for making the summit, and for sharing yet another marvel of the mountains!
You regularly post pictures that dreams are made of, I know mine certainly are :)
Michael
Alexandre Buisse  Thanks very much, Michael! If you dream of mountains, then you must be a good person.

Arghh ... Andian lunatics again :) ... and 4997 photos still traces. Alex, you have to be banned from the site LOL :))
However, stunning again, can't wait next one ;)
Alexandre Buisse  Hehe, I'm hoping to get a few more in before Jacob realizes I'm turning 1x into a climbing website and bans me :)

Great photo.
Wonderful exposure/processing.
Alexandre Buisse  Thanks James. It is almost straight out of camera, this is the magic of high altitude light.
Beautiful snowscape :)
