I'm glad to see your photo. I was starting to think that 99% of the work accepted at 1x where all about huge Post porcessing work. Here is an amazing photo, that looks as real as it gets, and still with a lot of mood and distortion and oof and pitch black and burned highlights. And guess what? It works realy realy well. Great work!

I LOVE my D90. This is a wonderful capture, full of fun things like symmetry, geometry, and repetitive elements, as well as great depth, and mystery. The grainy treatment really creates a palpable mood.

God- the circles, the DOF, the grain, it all works so well. I'm sixteen, so i don't get to see that someone younger than I has outdone me so badly too often, if only because of basic odds, but you certainly do here.
Alex OBrien  Hang in there Connor, I spent about 5 months trying to get published here, patience and practice and finding a personal style and that is it. And never compare yourself to others! Keep shooting and enjoy what you are doing etc (need to throw in a few more cliches).

Bon  I like the noise, but i think it was a lite to much. But on a print it will maybe work great (-:

What a day it was? A first day as you said, and I wonder what's coming next... and special thanks for trying it out on a subject you could have photographed with a Kodak Brownie, that was really brave! I'm really glad about this publication.
Alex OBrien  Thanks ever so much Balazs, I'll admit, I almost shattered my lens, that thought kept me up the night. Sorry, but I'm tired and just come back from playing five hours of solid tennis, so what do you mean by it being brave? :)

Alex OBrien  Oh I see what you mean Balazs, yes, I was not expecting anything from this at all and was completely surprised when I saw it published. I'm fairly confident that 1x has given me this style, when I look at my uploads from previous months. All the rejections prompted me to think outside the box, and upload things that I would never upload. I do not take photos for this website, yet it has shaped the photos I take, make sense? Upon further reflection, I think a 1930s film camera would have suited my style better, yet I am going on a bit now, thanks for your wonderful words!

Another cool shot. Well done. The 18-70 is a really nice lens I think. It was the kit lens for the D70 when that came out but still holds it own. . .

congrats on the new Nikon and a great shot! Looking at the thumb I though it was a row of bowling pins, and to my surprise those were light patterns. Love the geometry, and its break with the mysterious hand.

Mal Smart  it helps to have at least 1 eye, so 20-20 is not a requirement!
