an image so hard to look at for me, very impact-full, nice. I would add it to my favorites but I can't take the emotional hit right now. A compliment to you.

Balazs Pataki  Nem szabad feladni! Két feltöltés között pedig lehet olvasni, kritizálni... jó ez a szájt, bár a szürés néha elég vicces tud lenni. A kép alatti csillagra klikkelve be tudod jelölni kedvencnek! Üdv, Balázs

We have far too few documentary photos here. This one is very beautiful and touching too!
Balazs Pataki  I wasn't sure about the category, with everyday and documentary overlapping here. Thank you for letting this to the front page.

Balazs - good you submitted this, and I am pleased it was accepted. You are quite right about turning away from death, and when we do, we can fail to see that it is not all suffering. I wish that everyone could die surrounded by this kind of devotion, and that we could all be free of suffering. Bravo to the people who selected this.
My best,
Phyllis
Balazs Pataki  I am also very grateful to the folks who voted for this. It means a lot to see this published, not for my sweet vanity, but for proving that such photographs are not entirely lost on the viewers.

Words fail me here. A fine example of the power of photography.
Geraint
Balazs Pataki  The camera is just a tool for telling things; to me, it's the example they set, not because their were perfect, on the contrary - to be like this together, despite a fate that was far from perfect. Many thanks Geraint.
John Parminter 3 years ago
Yep, what I would call a proper photograph, a record of real tangible things.

JP
Balazs Pataki  Would you blame me for hiding behind a camera in a scene like this? Hope not...
John Parminter  Certainly not. I'm not sure I could actually photograph such a scene to be honest, so hats off to you Balazs for recording something so touching and poignant.

Balazs Pataki  Sometimes the best and worst things we experience happen in our everyday life, no need for breaking news... thanks Thomas.

This is just too strong my friend! -
Balazs Pataki  Oh no, it isn't. I have a photograph of them, taken in the 1930s on a beach, with a hole in the middle made by a Russian bullet. One of them "liberators" was having fun in 1945. He didn't know that before their arrival, the old lady was bitching constantly with the SS crew of an 88mm flak standing in their garden, because she found its noise annoying. That's what I call strong! :)

no words...just emotion
Balazs Pataki  I could say a 1000 words here, but instead I'm happy if the message gets trough from the photo only...

Hi Balazs. No words here, but rather overjoyed that this managed the front page.
Balazs Pataki  I had very strong doubts about submitting it, but luckily it got through... maybe that's a good occasion to say a thank-you to the yes voters.

This goes under my skin!

Robert
Balazs Pataki  I was afraid it will be rejected immediately... turned out to be my smoothest acceptance. Thank you Robert.
Robert  It shows great emotion! So why you think so?
Balazs Pataki  People usually don't like to be reminded to this subject. Also, it's very personal and not exactly Salgado quality. But I hoped that it will be seen the way I see it - as an illustration to the truth of "till death does us part" and "in bad times as in good times"... as an ultimately comforting and optimistic photograph. The end of life can't be avoided, but until then it's up to us how we live. This is why I don't keep this shot to myself. Talking about this is such commonplace anyway.
Robert  But when the people go more with open eyes trough there live they will see how easy it is to have a live with true and love. But you are right its a human thing looking away in such situation. Not everybody do so and i know a lot of people they go in hospitals to the people they lost there live partner and have nobody to care to spend time with them. Its so important even not married. Humanity start from some small things can be done for each other in normal life but most of the people has no time for it! Your picture remind me this again!

Robert
