Not a zoo shot. Shot in the evening, in drizzle, in Yellowstone's Hayden Valley. This wolf, together with a couple others, was chasing a cow with a newborn elk. A couple coyote were trotting behind it all, I suppose waiting for eventual scraps. A lot of bison nearby weren't paying any attention.

A beautiful capture of my favorite animal on earth. I was in Yellowstone the end of June and I spent so many hours driving and trying to track down this beauty. No luck on this trip, but there is always the future. Wonderful image!!!

Beautiful Ursula. I saw this on FB and was so envious until I saw the grizzly images, which scared the crap out of me. But have a real soft spot for wolves and coyotes and I love how he is completely aware of you but ignoring you a the same time in this frame.

Beautiful Ursula! Amazing light "halo" around the wolf, is that straight out of the camera or added in post-proc? Nice to see a wild big mammal here at OE!

Ursula I Abresch I lightened the wolf and darkened the edges a bit. The wolf was darker in the original, especially with the light behind her. The lightening increased the light halo around the wolf.

The picture is not straight out of camera, I never claimed that. It was made in the wild, at higher ISO, and I did post-process it. I cropped it slightly (off the left side edge, the wolf was more centred in the original out of camera), I made the adjustments from above, I applied a slight noise reduction layer, I resized, sharpened, saved for web. I hope this doesn't bother you.
