Meet Stewart. Ryan and I came across Stewart at a downtown bus stop, complaining rather loudly that the bus he was waiting for was late. I was immediately drawn to his bright pink shirt and unusual expression.

We stopped and talked to him until his bus arrived, which turned out to be only about 5 minutes or so. Though, he was reluctant to have his photo taken after a while Stewart was posing for my lens. Stewart wasn’t much of a talker, though he did tell us that he was managing a campaign for a local politician who was running for congress, only thing was Stewart couldn’t quite remember the man’s name. Never the less, his pleasant demeanor and character filled face made him an excellent subject.

For processing, I used the technique of combining a traditional image with an HDR. I initially tried processing the entire image as an HDR. Though, the scene became much too surreal for my liking. Instead, I opted to process the background and clothing traditionally and bring in the HDR for added dimension and detail on Stewart’s face.

Overall, I am pretty pleased with this portrait. I think Stewart’s expression and unusual garb help make this particular shot unique. What’s your take?
