A lovely moment which you have caught very well. I am interested, is it deliberately grainy? Is this something you did to try and soften the moment?

Giorgio Lorcet Hi Richard, thank you so much! This is a digital shot at 800 iso (f. 2,2 50 mm and 1/40 sec.). The grain you can see is digital noise of my camera (eos 400d) that in bw conversion appears like a grain of a film (sure not the same and, in my opinon, not so good). In this case I didn't used effects to add grain.
This is a natural portrait, I've shooted since her was looking at a cartoon on tv. ;)

Richard Messenger Thanks Giorgio. It is not detrimental to the shot, but it was interesting for me to know whether or not it was some sort of deliberate decision.

By the way, the girl has a beautiful, soulful face. She makes a great subject.
