I just can't grasp how you managed to pull this one off! The timing is amazing, the trails behind the planes show such volume and the contrast between the vibrant red of the aeroplanes and the depth of the sky's blue is just off the scale.

This was my first time shooting an aerial display and I was surprised by the results! Quite a bit of luck was involved with this one, the dark sky is actually due to the trails from the last maneuver passing behind but with some blue sky still coming through, this gave me something to work with in editing afterwards. I guess it was a case of being in the right place at the right time.

Im just wondering why the front 4, that are in a diamond formation dont have any contrails?

Stuart McNeil Thanks for your comment. The first 4 don;t have contrails as it would obscure the view of the following 'arrows' and (not quite so dangerous...) the spectators view of them.
