Eye to Eye and Cheek to Cheek
Zebras are often seen together - they're very sociable. In reality, they're not all white and black. Here, I was extremely lucky to find these four, standing together in almost near-perfect symmetry.

You're dead right about my special feelings about this picture - this maks it doubly special for me!

There are SOOOOO many wonderful pictures here on OE, that it was a quite a surprise for me too, to find it here on the Front Page again.

Go well up there in the Far North.

Colmar..so glad to see this as a Screener's choice..so it has a second look. It is an exceptional shot..not only for the formation, but to get that along with great DOF and such crispness..is a really big WOW. Bravo. My best, Phyllis
Colmar Wocke  Phyllis,

A BIG thanks from me - you know I'm a big person, so it really is a BIG thanks!

Oh yes Colmar. Victor Vasarely would sue you for this photo, but he can't since he is dead. Very, very lucky shot!
Colmar Wocke  Balazs,

Luck one sometimes needs - actually this is a kind of a "street shot".

Never knew about Victor - went and looked him up on the place that has a googol interesting things. Thanks for the info!

Go well.

These are such beautiful animals; Excellent photo!
Colmar Wocke  Ellen,

Sometimes one also needs a little luck in photography - they were standing like that some distance off!

I myself enjoy this picture and often come back to it.

Thanks for enthusing me with your lovely comment!

Yes, I would agree very lucky to find them in this formation! The b/w is excellent..sharp crisp, clear and the symmetry is fabulous. Bravo on this capture. Phyllis
Colmar Wocke  Phyllis,

So nice of you to comment on what was my FIRST picture on OneXposure!

I was born and bred in Africa and lived there until I was 40. Whenever we go back for a visit we go into the bush and there's always a little "surprise" waiting.

These four were such a "surprise", even to me.

Many thanks and go well.

I am discovering your portfolio, this is a nice one !!!! very well captured.
Colmar Wocke  Ivan,

Thank you for taking the time to send me a note - I have had a look at your own pictures since and especailly philosophy of picture-making which is very similar to my own - taking pictures of things, with no predefined area of interest.

These Zebra really stood so symmetrical and "in balance" with one another.

Enjoy your own picture taking!

great capture Colmar, and very funny title! These zebra's are so difficult to shoot, because the always changing ballet they perform all the time. Each special moment only stays for a very short time.

Thanks for the very good analysis here - indeed a "special moment" it was!

Colmar Wocke  Marcus,

I was sitting here at the computer when your message popped up!

Thanks for the comment.

You'd be surprised how much "colour" they actually have in them - I would actually like to post the colour version also, but don't know if this will be allowed by OE.

Go well.

Colmar
Marcus Björkman   I hope you get the colour version here, would be really interesting to see it!

Colmar, this looks almost like a mirror image, great capture.
Colmar Wocke  Thanks Will.
Lina Gunawan 3 years ago
Did you ask them to pose? :) they made such a nice composition!
Colmar Wocke  Lina,

You're right - it looks as IF I asked them to pose for me. I was just extremely lucky to come across them standing like that - as I say in the little annotation there, they're actually quite sociable and do like one anothers company. They tend to always be in groups.

But, to find them standing like this in an almost perfectly-symmetrical pose - that was SPECIAL.

Thanks for looking and thanks for your little mail.

Congratulations Colmar, and welcome to OE!
What an amazing composition - you were so fortunate to see this.
Love it in mono!...Regards, Andre
Colmar Wocke  Andre,

It does feel good to "be here" on OE at last.

I've "been here" but now I am "really here".

OE will certainly help me to lift my photography - just to have even ONE picture here is encouragement enough for me.

So, the picture of the Symmetricaly standing zebras, was the ONE Exposure that got me onto OneXposure.

Thanks for the kind words.
