What is this? Looks like something out of my nightmares :)

It might be cool if you cropped it tighter so that it was more ambiguous. Just a thought.

I am impressed simply because of the eye & the fly! the rest I guess is standard stuff though I am assuming you did some post processing to get the background so dark.

I cropped to 4:5 format in order to get the eye more dominant and
used a gradient tool to get the background more dark.
Finally I highlighted the left eye a bit, added some more contrast and did slight gamma correction.
