Between Colombo and Polonnaruwa, many stop for refreshments within the protected forest reserves of Kurunegala. In the shade of the jungle tiny way-side shops are selling herbal drinks, steamed corn, king coconuts and various refreshments.

Very nice. I do like it. I see the light coming down over the person picking up the corn but I fail to understand why there are no shadows on the ground. I do see very minimum shadows of the standing persons feet.

Did you edit the shadows out?

Tommy Strommen Thank you. No didn't edit out any shadows, only contrast and desaturation adjustments. The light ray hitting the steam is very diffused by the trees. The light ray hitting the bottom right corner is much stronger and would have given harsh shadows I guess.

Light is excellent and I love the juxtapostions here - a simple life, yet a man on a cell phone. And that old Coca Cola box. Well seen and marvelously processed.

excellent Tommy. that light beam really freshens it up. terrific exposure as well, and fine work to tone the colors down.

Tommy Strommen Thanks. Yep mostly about the light hitting the the steam this one. The scene is quite deceptive btw, this is actually the shop keeper from the neighbouring shop, while here he seems to be an arrogant f'er who has just parked his BMW to take 5 minutes of his busy life to pick up some steamed corn from a guy he doesn't think much of.

Koen Pieters ha ha... that's exactly how I perceived it lol. reminds me of scenes along Thai highways... when bangkokians on the way to or coming back from a family visit in the countryside do some quick shopping of local specialties.
