Time Smooths Everything

The title says enough. The shot was taken at sunset, but I wanted an unusually long exposure time: to obtain this, I used a small aperture with an ND filter on the lens. I also choose to desaturate the shot to enhance shapes and light (and not the usual sunset colors...)

Lovely image. It was very brave to desaturate it to enhance the composition, but you have been rewarded for it as the image works so well. I agree with Jarrett, there are a lot of "long exposure" waterscapes around, but this one stands out: congratulations!

Marco Martinelli Marcello, thank you so much for your comments. I think that shapes and the unnatural look of the water are the main subject for this image, so I desaturated it to avoid "distracting" colors of sunset. I'm glad you appreciate this choice.

One of the better "long exposure beach shots" that I have seen. That is because you took the time to do a great composition, instead of just relying on the "wow" effect of what exposures like this do to water and clouds. Nice!

Marco Martinelli @Anne: thank you a lot. I was tempted to leave the sunset colors, eventually I went to B/W toning (a little warmed, actually. I'm glad you agree with my choice.
