Stob Dearg, the 'red peak' forms an impressive profile at the head of Glens Etive and Coe.

Seems like the graduated filter is a bit much.
John Parminter  Interesting comment and thanks, always useful when people have a different opinion. The 0.9 grad was used to prevent too much blown-out highlights in the brightest clouds but there were very dark clouds as well and the sky had an uneven dynamic range, the histogram in camera was full range without clipped highlights or shadows and this is the RAW file I used to create the 3-file tone mapped image. This is the effect I aimed to acheive within the sky area as I prefer slighly under-exposed skies with a slight gradation towards black and the 3 dimensional qualities. I realise it probably won't be to everyones taste but it was the overall effect I was looking for and besides it is really an accurate depiction of the scene as seen.
Thanks,
John

Beautiful, great tone mapping without getting unrealistic.
John Parminter  Thanks Reinder, its not an HDR image but a blend of 3 x TIFFs created from one original RAW file then tone mapped in Photomatix, glad you think its not overdone as it is easy to do it,

My first reaction when I saw the image was "it really reminds of Glen Coe"... Beautiful capture!
John Parminter  Yes Alexandre, when travelling north it is the iconic mountain always associated with Glen Coe, this being shot in the opposite direction though.
