Kevin,

I love all your work (every single one) except this one (I'm sorry). It's flat. It doesn't have the "impact" like your other work has. But my opinion is subjective of course. Seems like most would disagree with me. She is beautiful so I would like to see more images of her. You are a brilliant artist!
Kevin Ng  Al - no need to be sorry, I'm always interested to hear people's opinions. You are right, this is not one of those "in your face, wow" pictures. It's the slow story that I had intended. Thank you for your thoughts, I do appreciate it.

Disturbing angle, worries.. Normally I wouldn't like this angle together with the direction of light, but it feels right here. Nice B&W work too. Excellent picture with a good story!
Kevin Ng  Hey Lars,

Thanks for those nice comments - I appreciate it!! Hope things are well with you!

regards Kevin and congratulations!
Kevin Ng  Thank you very much Monique - yes, this is my eldest. I struggled and stuggled to get her published and when she finally was, I had to be in the picture to ruin it :(((
Monique  oww..what are you talking Kevin!?
You didn't ruin it at all!
you made fantastic portrait of father and child.
without you on this image it wouldn't be the same.
great work--you should be proud of this one.
regards!

Glad to see this heartwarming picture.
It describes in a touching manner love and care between father and daughter.
By the way, your daughter is very beautiful.
What else when the father is handsome?:-)

Please have a wonderful weekend all together,
Helmut
Kevin Ng  Helmut- thank you very much - I hope you have a great weekend as well - and I look forward to seeing more of those street photos from you!!

Nice double portrait, with a nice job with B&W, lights and contrast as with the composition. What I would prefer is to choice a vertical position. I explain my point of view:
The man and the woman seems to be with a high tension, the hands of the woman taking the man, and her eyes express a tension, as if she don't wants that he leave her. The look of the man, lost faraway, seems to show that he has leave her sometime before. I would prefer a vertical frame because it will be stronger to see the woman to look us straight(taking all our focus on the picture, as she were telling us "help me"), and the man looking up and outside the frame as he is far away in his thoughts, not with the woman, neither with us...The man looking under it doesn't gives the same intensity, and at the same time I find a little disturbing this position not vertical, when they are in vertical position, I think that is more difficult to see the picture.

It's my point of view, and my way to understand this nice picture. Just another point of view...

best regards,

Javier
Kevin Ng  Hey Javier,

Thanks for your comments - I think perhaps you have overestimated how old the "woman" is. She is actually my nine year old daughter. The tilted composition is actually intended to show the strain, stress and worry that a father feels for his children, or daughter in this case. That is also the reason for my title, although I would agree with anyone who says that a title should simple reinforce rather than explain the image. Anyways, thanks again for your comments - I do appreciate it - best regards....
Javier Sanchis  :-) ... Thanks for your explanation about the picture,...and about your daughter. Always interesting what a picture can make us to feel when we watch it. Reality and imaginary are not always together.

Best regards,

Javier

Excellent idea and realization, Kevin! And nice to meet you!! :)
Kevin Ng  I'm glad you like it Ines - I'm also starting to think that there should be a mandatory requirement for all members to submit self-portraits - it's so nice to put a face to the name!! best regards....
Inés Montenegro  And have it rejected because of motif? Nooo way! ;-D

nice to meet you and your lovely daughter, Kevin !
well thought and done.
:this was set up,wasn't it? :)
Kevin Ng  Thank you very much Barbara - I admire your work and so I very much appreciate your comments - set up?! Nah, I just have cameras set up throughout the house that get triggered when we walk by - he he :)))) best regards.....
terrific Kevin! light, composition, expression and the faces...
just to ask, do you shoot in color and then convert, or directly in b/w?
Kevin Ng  Hey Marvin - thanks for the nice comments, glad you liked it - I took this in colour and then converted to bw in PS
So beautiful and such an interesting compostion. love it
Kevin Ng  Thank you Angela - it means a lot to me that you like this and I really appreciate you putting this in your favorites :)))) - best regards.....

Liked everything about this except camera angle. But I guess I can be too picky at times.
Nice one.

JB
Kevin Ng  Hey Jerry - thanks for your comment and no, being picky is not a bad thing. Just so you know though, I set up the camera for a straight on shot, I just tilted my body forward to emphasize the strain of worry! Best regards....
Jerry Berry  Ahhh. I see. Now I understand. I couldn't figure it out. A simple mind block because I have secret issues with that new photography "style" of turning the camera sideways where one has difficulty figuring out how to view it.
Kevin Ng  I think it might have something to do with all those MAVDU shots of yours - everything's at an angle until you pull out the vaseline to straighten it out :)))
Jerry Berry  Careful Buddy. You are negotiating a slippery slope! :-0

Hi Kevin, congrats to your new picture on 1x. To me it's a striking and eye catching pose and unusual composition that works out great. I also really like B&W conversion and the dark black "base tone".
All the best, Anders

About

Damn

Time

Finally got her published, grats!
Kevin Ng  Thanks ES - actually this is a two birds with one stone story. I previously had a self-portrait rejected .... so I guess we can only make it as a team - which isn't a bad thing at all!!! Can't wait to show her - she's gonna be ecstatic!
