Drareg. I still have a dubious position on whether I like HDR or not. This image IMHO may sway me. The subject matter either plays very well with the process or you have done very well with the process to get a great image. Yes, it draws attention. But I think in a good way. The tones and colors play well with each other. The composition is a little messy on the right side but it does not distract. I like it a lot and would be interested to see more with similar subject matter.

Discussion about HDR:-)) I find it is a good HDR. The processing is well done except some small tild but this realy do not matter. What bothers me on this one is simply that i do not see anything chalange the photographer to make this image. This scene is arranged in a museum. The light situation was perfect like in all museums like this one. I missing some more origin in it like some workers loading the truck or Al Capone with his Tommy Gun:-)))
A fine image anyway!

Greetings Robert
don't get it, an empty image...sorry...

I quite like this image, Drareg. Sure, HDR is not for everyone, and mostly I am turned off by the majority of it, unless, as Clyde, it is subtle. However, the effect, albeit surreal, works very very well in this image.

I find it unfortunate that people think it is ok to be rude in their comments, as below. People should be able to politely say why an image doesn't appeal to them without making comments in a hurtful way. This is usually, and should be, a friendly community. It makes me ashamed that this is tolerated on this website. Sorry Drareg.

This has the appearance of software such as Photomatix HDR (which I call phoney or pseudo HDR). However the result is what counts and this works very well. Perhaps Benoit has the same opinion as me regarding HDR - if it can be seen that it is HDR then that is a poor HDR but as I said, the result here is attractive and that is what counts.
Drareg  I do avoid HDR mostly, because it's very difficult to maken one, but to call it: "a great démostration of bad photografic compétence"!!

I will view Benit's work soon.

Well if they get screened I will also show more of my work, I have just a few HDR photo's.
Clyde Beamer  OK, I'll chime in here. I think HDR like any digital/wet manipulation of photographs is fine as long as it doesn't call attention to itself. If the first thing I think of when I look at photograph is about the technique, then the technique has failed!! And, that's what happened when I looked at this photograph for the first time...

I have done a few and have seen a few, but only a few, HDR images that I like. For me, they have to be VERY subtle. I think it's a technique that gonna take some time to be more broadly accepted.

Your subject is great, I like your composition, I guess I don't understand why you chose HDR for this one. I might have gone more towards some sort of vintage look to the processing. But hey, if you like it and it got published, congrats!!
Drareg  HDR is fairly new to me, although I've tried it before, it never would work for me.
But when I visited the museum my idea was to try and make images and use the bracketing mode in my camera for making HDR, I simply wanted to try this feature.

Most HDR images I have seen I also don't like so much, offen you see the halo effect arround object, this is when Light Smoothing in for example Photomatix is set to Low, for a subtle HDR effect Light smoothing should be set towards the High setting to avoid the halo effect, this image was set on the middle (out of 5) in Photomatix.

I liked it, yes, HDR could be more subtle, I have a view HDR images from this museum that are much more subtle than this one, if they get past the screening you are able to see more from this museum in HDR in the future.
