I appreciate the comments. Well done Gerard for spotting how close I was. This is one of a pair of deer that are frequently spotted near to the A9 in Scotland. Whilst they are definitely wild you can get quite close to them. I was advised not to get too much closer however as they have been known to chase people!

I've since heard that this majestic animal had to be put to sleep due to a disgraceful act by someone who shot it with an air gun multiple times. I just do not understand some people.....

Excellent, beautiful photo! In a funny way it reminds me of Joseph Holmes' "AMNH series"- photos he took in the Natural History Museum in New York- but "in real life" as opposed to a taxidermied animal.

There is an air of wildness about this shot that is deceiving since when you see the focal length of the lens is suggests you were so close you could touch it. Is he a friend of yours! stuffed or blind! Please take my comments as tongue in cheek but it is rather strange you got so close of course though the end effect is what counts & it does look impressive.
