Towards the Light

This was a very emotive moment and didn't really shot much. This photo, however, reflects it all; this is just one second after the baby is starting to be pulled out by the doctor's gentle yet expert hands. From her hip down she's still inside her mother.

It's not just her luminous face, not even how the doctor is holding her, neither the sense of effort she's transmitting. What I like most about this shot is how well it overturns a potentially unpleasant photo into a natural and poetic scene.

Say hello to my little pearl, the first girl among four sons. Hope you like it.

Esta es de esas fotos que realmente no te das cuenta que tomas: el momento era tan fugaz que no tuve tiempo de entretenerme con los ajustes de la máquina, si no que centré toda mi atención al visor y al motivo; supongo que esta es la razón por lo que la captura es tan intensa y emotiva.

Neste caso, penso que os aspectos técnicos são secundários.
Apesar de tu não teres tido tempo para fazer os ajustes da máquina, resultou numa foto muito boa, e como muito bem dizes "intensa y emotiva" :-)

Wow! Great shot at a great moment. I was present at the birth of both of my sons. The experience is profound and consciousness changing.

Carlos Tico Glad you like it. This was my 4th childbirth (first girl), but did not take a camera with me at the previous three. I wasnt' actually thinking about taking a good shot; I just wanted to retain the moment. The camera did it by itself!

this is a great documentary shot very strong and intense. we everyday see a lot of war and violence shots but so few photos like this. Life! maybe there are some thecnical problems but I think, as Stephen do, that are not so rilevant in case like this. In this kind of photography the main reason of the shot is its communicative capacity. IMO. bravo.

Some screeners voted against publishing this photo due to technical problems and disturbing objects. I agree. In my defense I must say this was a challenging shot under very difficult light conditions: there wasn't either much time for it. I do not agree, however, with those arguing impact as a weakness, although I would be pleased to read a bit more about it.

Stephen Edds Carlos sometimes there are images (especially 'documenary' such as this) where technical issues
are totally irrelevant. The importance is the subject and nothing else. Muy muy bien !!!

I must applaud 1x for publishing this...there seems to be a new 'edginess' to images lately.
