what was your stop-shot equipment? sound sensor? or infrared?
Lex Augusteijn  I used home-brewed electronics.
A light beam is positioned in front of the barrel of an air rifle, which is then broken by the pellet.
After an adaptable delay, the flash is fired.

What a timing, amazing picture!
Lex Augusteijn  Did you see my other picture? Even harder timing....

I like how the bits of rubber add just enough colour and contrasting texture to the shot.

You're not the cameraman of this commercial by any chance:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhjyWnT-rr8
I saw a making of once, but I can't find it on youtube. They needed like a hundred flies for this.
Arnoud Delporte  Here is how they made the commercial:

Lex Augusteijn  I have seen this stuff. Great work.
No I am not the camera man :-).
I prefer my flash over this amount of lighting, if only for my electricity bill.

Impressive! How is the light/cam and shot timed? :-)
Lex Augusteijn  Using electronics. The rifle shot is detected by opto-electronics, which triggers when the bullet exits the rifle. After some adjustable delay, the flash is triggered.
Hur  Thnxs. :-)

When I saw this it took me a while to figure out what exactly I was looking at, I had not read the title of the image or I would have known. Great stuff.

I take it that you weren't just standing around with your camera, alert for potential photos, when you saw this happening.

Don't listen to Jacob, unless what I'm seeing is the "improved" version.

Excellent work!
Lex Augusteijn  Indeed, this was precisely orchestrated. Little chance for a lucky shot with these kind of events.
What you see is not the improved version, so I prefer listening to you ;).

Lex Augusteijn  Geschoten natuurlijk!
Shot of course, using an air rifle and some precision timing.

Okay the most logical way! Good timing.

Great high-speed image. I would clean up a bit of the noise and garbage and re-upload.
