Amazing work. I always leave a bit of sky too, i don't think you can find more than 3 exceptions in my +500 pictures flickr stream. :) As you say so, it makes the background real, otherwise I would definitely have thought it was done in post.

Intense! Her powerful look, her hidden face and the hardness and symmetry pf the background make this picture strong. Favourite for me!

I realy love the way you placed the model to give even more strength - and in doing so, a very personal caracter - to this monument.
Personaly I thing I would try to get rid of the smal part of sky in the background.
forgive me if it is not "the style" to give a personal approach in this forum ... I'm just arived, and I don't know yett all the "to do and not to do's" of this magnificent forum.
Piet
msimic  Excellent clarity of the subject, but geometry is what makes this shot unique. I agree with Piet, I think that excluding sky would add little bit to "endless" of this pattern, but amazing work overall...
Robert Larson  heh I know this isn't a critique but . . . when I read that, Piet, I saw what you are saying but sometimes whats considered "perfect" composition around here is kind of . . . heartless? Its too detached. The little bit of sky helps me relate to the person standing there, it helps me visualize the place so that I don't wonder if it is actually legit . . . "maybe it's just a studio set up" No I see sky and a slight tilt . . . its real after all! I can imaging the place, the person, the image, much more clearly.

I'm quite impressed by how many new ways of photographing this monument are found all the time. The portrait complements perfectly the snow capped blocks, great idea and great realization!
