Thanks for all the kind comments. There is rarely a possibility to skate on natural ice on canals and lakes in the Netherlands. There is ice now and all people go skating. It's a kind of national madness. As a sports photographer i always have to make sharp pictures for newspapers and magazines. And now and then i have time to make pictures of my own. And then this comes on.

I was out looking at skaters on a lake the other day. We have the same kind of weed/high grass near the shore of our lake. I looked at it and tried to figure out how I could use it in a picture but didn't come up with anything decent. You did, Nd the result was far better than decent. very good work. like how you focused on the fg... makes for a lot of mood, and despite the extreme dof, it still remains very clear what they are doing/what this is about, thanks to that typical body language of a long distance skater
