I would define a minimal full of humanity
:-)))
rich the gray scale
Mark Kitaoka  Monique, this scene was just perfect for what I had wanted to do. Oh if I could only always control the elements of Mother Nature! ;-)

Mark Kitaoka  Hey Man, sometimes the environment is just right at just the right time. I was lucky it was low tide that day. Thanks Codrin!

there is something about people with umbrellas that makes the photos good ;-) seriously, i love the composition and her facing the camera.
Mark Kitaoka  Hey Dragan, I agree that umbrellas have something interesting and that's why I had her use it on a sunny day.

I'm glad to see it published!
Liked it so much in screening.
Love the reflections and the tones!
Mark Kitaoka  Thanks so much Schnette. I too love the reflection of Jen in the water.

Love the reflections and tones. Good inspiration for next time I am on a beach - reminds me a lot of a place I went to. All I could focus on shooting though were the sea gulls. Camera shooting that is....
Mark Kitaoka  Seagulls are not my favorite birds Richard. Shoot them with whatever you want. Once when I was on Fisherman's Wharf I had splurged and bought myself my favorite English Toffee and was about to take my first bite when a seagull swooped over my right shoulder and took the whole thing right out of my hand.

If I had my Kimber with me instead of the Canon, that gull would have been sorry!

but they say it never rains in southern California ?
beautiful shot- i always like photos which remind me of songs.
this is the song and the photo for my day
thank you, Mr.Kitaoka
Mark Kitaoka  Thank you Barbara and I, like so many that live in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA will NOT take offense being confused with LA! ;-) Had this shot been taken in LA, you could not have seen the sky and the water would be black! I grew up down in LA, Crenshaw to be exact, so I can complain about the area.

Thanks barbara, my ranting is all in good fun, tongue in cheek. I always appreciate your comments on my work.
barbara  :)D
sorry to be a dummy, my geographical knowlege is poor, obviously. But i did know San mateo was in California, didn't i.lol, now i know a little more. we have a saying in my language-" we are learning all life and still die stupid."
have a great evening.
Mark Kitaoka  LOL! Have a great evening barbara. Tracy and I are heading up to SF to meet some of my relatives who will be here for a week, so there will be loads of street shooting for me this week...thank gawd too as I get very crabby when I am not out shooting on the street! Night

See Mark? Lanscapes aren't so hard. Of course you brought a model with you.
I like it.

JB
Mark Kitaoka  JB, I damn near put it under Landscapes, but I thought Ursula would just reclassify it like she does so many of my bad category choices! And don't you also bring gorgeous young models with you on landscape work? ;-)

Tracy's pissed. She said she's getting her own 'Muse'
Jerry Berry  I'll never fess up to bringing gorgous young models to landscape shoots. And if I did, do you think I would crazy enough to document it?!
Tell Tracy I'd be happy to let her shoot me. But we would have to take out disturbing objects from the list. I DO have a couple of Buff friends though and you might be ok with them since they are essentially Eunichs :-)
Tracy Martin  That is a very nice offer but for the most part even women prefer to photograph other women when it comes to artistic shots - and sharing a model just doesn't work so I do need to find my own female muse. :)
Mark Kitaoka  LOL! And even if they're not eunuchs, I have a rusty old cheese grater that will do the trick!
Jerry Berry  Yeah I guess if you were into it. They became that way through better chemistry.
Tracy Martin  Grumble grumble grumble
Mark Kitaoka  Don't be bitter dear... you know I have not been out shooting for quite some time, so what's a guy to do?

I liked this one immediately, voted for it and I'm glad the photo is published! Less is more!! Great one!
Mark Kitaoka  Thanks again Aart. I like your comment about 'less is more' as I assume you are referring to my novice PS skills. Since my skills in that area are fairly crude, I try to do the best I can when taking a shot. Thanks again.

Oh I like this one!

Very well done!
Mark Kitaoka  latoday, thank you.

Mark Kitaoka  Thank you so much Rosalinde.

very good
Mark Kitaoka  Thanks Jure. I had Jen yesterday for two hours for shooting, so we went out by the Bay to take some images at dusk. I was fortunate that the tide in the Bay was low yesterday which reveals these shell jetties which are natural occurrences here. I asked her to walk out on this one and look directly back at me and took the shot.

I had noticed that the texture of the jetty matched the texture of the Bay and with the water as a reflection, I felt it would make a good shot.
