Andrei Baciu no, no, by 'touchingness' I meant a false pathetic attitude of my own when expressing my feelings about your photo.

as for the editing, i think this is a means, not an end in itself, so it wouldn't have mattered if you had edited the photo more consistently. :)

I love the DoF in these.. Is it done in the PS or is it "real"?

Thomas Ljungberg Thank you Ilja, as always, great to hear from (and you know it should be "Tompa", but maybe your just teasing me)!
There is no PS involved for the DoF/blur, it is all from the lens. Shot with Nikkor 50mm 1.4 at f/1.4. You don't get much in focus then so you have to control the focal plane. My favorite lens for portraits...
So you need to get one of those as well. Nikon has released a new AF-S version that you should look at, or maybe Sigmas. It is said to be even sharper but bigger and pricier...

I actually have Nikkor 50mm 1.8 which I quite like, but I´ve been afraid to use it at 1.8 in portraits.. I´ll have to give it a go..

Thomas Ljungberg No problem. You should give it a try. A small tip an the way. Focus - recompose might not work. When you recompose you will in some occasions actually move the focal plane enough to get the eyes out of focus. Took me a while to figure that one out...

Thomas Ljungberg Yes, those eyes are remarkable. I know girls that would kill for eyelashes like that... David is Amanda's little brother. If you look at her portrait here on OE I think you will recognize the dark eyes...
