What are you like?
Where did you get to?
No, I know nothing
You didn't hold me for any longer
Did you walk for the fear of love?
Or don't you believe enough?
Well, I'll cover both of us,
You can leave that to me..

Closing in
I hope that you'll make it
I hope that you'll find your way
It's all that I want in the whole world

Closing in
Please be there..

Hello Daria,

Are you familiar with the photo "Woman who died in her sleep" by Jeffrey Silverstone? I was remined of it even though the intentions of yours and it are very different. It, of course, comes from real life (and death).

Daria Endresen  Clive, thanks a lot for commenting and sharing the link - haven't seen this photo before, it's really stunning, in many ways.

Theres a painting by Caravaggio of doubting Thomas putting his finger into Christ's wound; its shocking without being gratuitous and immensely powerful without being 'sensational'. It is also very tender. I think this shares those strengths. Amazing work Daria!

I'm delighted to know that you liked it!
Definitely your best work for me.

Love the cold expression of the face in spite of that huge painfull wound. Far from female sentimentalism -what i see sometimes in your works- and close to the real female existence. You have ²beautifully" shown the disruption of love and pain. Also three elements which my life are based on. " Beauty, love and pain...

How fine Tarkovsky said: "We don't need any other worlds, we need a mirror".
Daria Endresen  Kaveh, thank you so much for this lovely and deep comment, I'm glad you can see these things in my work.
So you're a fan of Tarkovsky? We have quite a lot in common, my friend :)

i would like to know how to make stiches like that, well
haha, not in real, only in photoshop.
great (morbid) story i find here.
keep it up!
Daria Endresen  Thanks a lot, girl!
I'm very glad you liked it :)

Making stiches is quite easy. It's actually a piece of white cloth, cut in the middle and stiched with a thick thread. I took a pic of it hanging on the wall with a dark background under (to create "the wound") at the same place where I was initially standing while shooting the main image, so that the light and shadows were correct. And then I pasted it into my main image, set the blending mode of that layer to "multiply" (it makes all the white go away, so what you have left is the stiches, the wound and some shadows), and I created a mask to hide some unnecessary stuff around. Finally I lowered the opacity of the layer to about 80%. And basically that was it :)
Hope it makes some sense. Feel free to ask if you got any questions :)

Have a nice up-coming weekend!
barbara  wow, thank you for explanation. i will copy it and read it slowly, and one day who knows, maybe,i will try to do something similar with someone else's body....lol

This is a real Daria-image. I like how you used the mirror and the different image in the mirror. This time I even like the wound. ;) I like the colors and the different tones on your skin. But I find it quite disturbing that you don't have nipples. This makes it to me a little funny, it looks weired. I do understand that you don't want to show them, but in other pictures you had more clever ways to hide them. - (You always encouraged me to criticize you in the open.)

A.

Daria Endresen  Thank you, Anna, both for the praise and for the critics, I do appreciate it :)
What I wanted to achieve was a completely detached, non-human look, and that's why I did a lot of erasing and retouching. I guess it's supposed to look weird in a way. But I see your point - I'll think more on it, maybe I'll get a better idea :)
Thanks again!

Daria, often when I look at your images I have no idea what it is you're talking about with them, but they somehow seem to speak to me anyway, of love and loss and hurt and beauty, all at the same time. Weird how that happens. You sure are good at these.
