Heddal Stave church (Notodden, Telemark) is the largest of the remaining 28 stave churches in Norway. It was build some time after 1200. About 25-30% of the original material is still in place. No metal nails were used, only wooden nails. The outside wood surface is protected by tar, which is applied regularly. It is not allowed to attach scaffoldings around the church, so mountain climbers are hired to do the job. The tarring is done manually using brushes.

Sorry, this doesn't do it for me, it just feels too..fake..
The debth is ok, it has a nice feel to it, but the composition is very straight-forward-nothing-new..

The fog also seems very un-natural..

I understand that realism probably wasn't your intention since the picture is heavily manipulated, but i still feel _some_ level of reality would bring the shot to life, making the viewer possibly think this is a real setting..

my two cents, you can handle it :)
Tom  it is a real setting heheh, i can handle it Thanks for the cents. :-)

An amazing capture. The misty blue tone is surreal. The actual history behind the building is fascinating as well. How much photoshop to get this effect?
Tom  This image is a combination of two photos and heavily edited in photoshop,However, you can see the original here: www.photosight.org/photo.php?photoid=90615

Glad this made it. A fave in screening. The distortion really sets this one off.
