Stunning pic that I didn't really pay attention to when first published. Is this you? Like with Barbara? And if so, how to you handle the composition, metering and shutter release while getting everything just right? Is it a timer or some other remote? And that light from the window could you see the "rays" in real life before hand? It is just so ethereal and god like. ;-)

Yes, it's me and back then I used a timer on my camera (I've got a remote now, makes it much easier with self-portraits). I wasn't aware of the rays until I saw the pics on my PC, and I did enhance them in PS a little bit.. Glad you enjoyed this one, thanks :)

Richard Ford Well all I can say is that I just renewed my membership to the heterosexual club the other day as a result. And on to the more technical aspects, I am always amazed by the shots like this that seem so well "setup" but at the moment it clicks there was no eye to the view finder. Barbara had one too where the shot seemed to have been done on a small table and then through a pair of glasses/spectacles on the table in between her and the camera and it is just oh - so - perfectly lined up. I'd give up quickly - same goes for stuff like what Dave Nitsche does - too pre meditated for my nerves. ;-)

Hi Daria,
How much is the room and lightining real ? is it a virtual one ?

Daria Endresen 100% real :) didn't change anything in the room except for maybe fixing the slight distortion and removing some spots. The light is also natural - I get lots of sun in the mornings :)

It's a composite.
I shot the hair separately and then pasted it in, with some adjustments (transform, curves, dodge/burn etc) :)

Martin Gremm So how did you pick a German title (which is brilliant by the way)? What an interesting way to illustrate ambivalent feelings the morning after!

Daria Endresen It's a song by the german band Lacrimosa :) I used to listen to them quite a lot some time ago and of course knew the translations of the songs (I'm always interested in lyrics, you know :))
So when I was working on this image (and the working title was "good morning" or something), I remembered that song and thought that "The morning after" suits it much better.
