I second Gerard: challenging image of course, but also enriched by a brave postprocessing. Very difficult to manage leaving unaffected (and reinforcing) the mood of the image, without falling in the too-easy and strolling "special-effects".
Zef.
Mel Brackstone  Glad you're challenged by my image, Zef! Thank you for taking the time!

it is a challenging image which i like but find myself liking it for the wrong reasons. there is a vulnerability about the person but the set seems too contrived but then i think the shining (the opposite light that you would associate with despair) & the mood is sort of set with the unnatural light to suggest a psychedelic trip like effect. was the dressing gown left to reveal more on purpose or was that by accident? i find it adds to the vulnerability but also adds a sensual touch that may be unwanted... am i rambling?
Mel Brackstone  Ramble if you wish, Gerard, thank you for your interpretation of my image, much appreciated!

Edgy. Are those candles about to set the cabinet on fire? They look awfully close. This has the feeling of a set you might have built, or at least adapted. There is something strange in this (I *like* strange). Missing elements. Something is missing.

Good work!
Mel Brackstone  I like strange too, glad you were able to see so much in this image, King!! Much appreciated, thank you!
Emptiness, loneliness.. A empty chair in the back, a doll (?) in the other chair, no one to talk to.. despair.. I feel my heart reach out to this woman, and that to me is a very successful photograph. Well done!
