I hear the rumble of the ocean. Bird's call, and my grandchildren's sqeals of playful delight. Today we bake cookies for untethered consumption at tonight's game of Chutes and Ladders. We approach the door with gifts of fresh-picked bouquets for Nana.

To me, this has a very welcoming feeling to it. The house promises warmth, protection, comfort and nurture. The muted colors and soft tones only enhance the feeling--like a favorite but well-worn sweater. I find the composition to be very pleasing and somehow right.

Great work Joan. I get the feeling that this is an important place, it has positive feelings attached to it. It is raised up on a pedestal, surrounded by wonderful flowers, sun is shining and the skies are blue. This is like an illustration of a beautiful memory from the past.
