The wounded vulnerability and beauty, anonymity, and muted tones together with that shadowy, struggling but stifled vine make for a fine composition. I would love to see a Daria show done with large-format printing. I'm curious about the dress...the texture intriguingly suggests the printed word but apparently is not. It's the haunting quality of your work and your compositional skill (the whole generally packs much more force than the sum of the parts). Your photographs have real presence, not the least of which are "love's bitter mystery" "das ewig-Weibliche zieht uns hinan." I need such inspiration; thank you.
Daria Endresen  Robert, I can't thank you enough for this deep and wonderful comment. All I can say is your words make me very happy and inspire me to keep working and creating something new. I really appreciate it, thank you so much :)
Happy New Year and my very best wishes to you!

I am glad that the branches are still growing in the background and that the body still has more softness, then the rough surroundings. This means there is pain, but not all is lost. In the start I thought the sheet was covered with words(could have been symbolic for love letters... words from the past ;-) ), but then I saw it was just how the sheet looked like...øv bøv, but it would have been I nice touch imho ;-)

I can just repeat my earlier words under another picture: It is amazing how you can suck beauty out of pain. There´s so much emotion in your pictures and your work touches the inside of us humble observers. Maybe it´s because most of us know the feeling of pain and can in one way or another relate to it. But not many can and have the strength to show it in a creative way as you, and touch so many in the process.
I hope and am looking forward to see a future where you will express joy and happiness that will eventually pass by your way ;-)
One minor thing: In a way I would love to see the lines where the wall meets the floor be horizontal.

Thanks for sharing another `honest beauty` with us ;-)
/Jörg
Daria Endresen  Jörg, thank you very much for this deep comment, I'm so glad that you found some time and shared your thoughts about the image with me :)
You know, it always brings me great joy when I hear that my works touched someone - it makes all the efforts worth it, and gives me inspiration to create more.
Thanks a lot again, I appreciate it immensely :)

PS agree with you about the floor line - tried to fix it but it didn't look so good, so I just left it as it is :) And now that you've mentioned it, the pattern on the sheet does look like words.. I'll think about developing this idea ;)

Thanks for all the faves too - I am very moved :))

It has all been said before; thank you again for sharing your work with us. I admire your way of comunicating your ideas, but wish you had easier ways of getting your inspiration.
Daria Endresen  Andrew, thank YOU for writing these wonderful words! I'm always happy to see your comments under my images and your opinion is highly appreciated.
Hope you're doing fine, it's been a long time since.. :)
Andrew Stewart  Yes life is getting better, had been dealing with some work issues and not taking many photos. That is all resolved now so maybe I'll get some inspiration for some quality photos. :-)
Daria Endresen  Glad to hear everything is fine and looking forward to see new works from you, Andrew :)
Something changed in the world (at least in my photoworld) about a year ago. Your magnificent self-portraits began to to be noticed on photo-sites such as photosight.org, where I first saw your work, and here on OE.
I believe that nobody, who sees your portraits, ever will forget them. No matter how many pictures we take or watches, we always returns to your work for the smallest hope of inspiration. You tell your stories in a very unique and powerfull way.
And I totally agree with John C, it's like watching page by page the Daria-world.
I, myself, has very little experience in portraits, but I think I can say that this is a masterpiece. The missing finger does it all.

HJL
Daria Endresen  I've got no proper words to thank you, Hans Jørgen :)
I feel so inspired and happy when I read comments like yours, it makes me realise that my art has a greater purpose then just expressing myself, and all my time and effort put in my works are worth it.
Så utrolig glad for at du følger med, tusen hjertelig takk for det :)

Great to see your poetry again Daria! As always, you have a strong story, details that intrigues the viewer, symbolism that can be interpreted in so many ways.
To me this is both a sad story, loosing something valuable, not being appreciated as one am. But it also breathes hope. The woman rising tall, over the shadows, into the light, overcoming and standing strong in this vulnerable situation...
Maybe I'm reading to much into the image...
I love the way you mixed the wonderful curves with the sharp angles and the way you made use of the square format.
Glad to see you here again, even if it means, as you state, that you have been through a downhill...
/Thomas
Daria Endresen  Thank you very much for taking your time and writing this comment, Thomas :)
It's always been very fascinating to read other people's interpretations of my images, and I am very grateful for expressing your thoughts on this shot. Glad you can see something positive in it too - I wouldn't like my works to be seen as completely black, because I believe that hope is always there :)
Again, thanks a lot!
I guess one needs to be a poet to come up with the right words to decribe this as my own words come to short..
Daria Endresen  :)) your words are more then enough for me, Johannes.
Thank you so much! :)

As usual you're personal. And for one who's been watching the story from a distance, the story reveals itself...page by page. You could almost make a book about your inner you solely by you pictures.Another chapter in Daria's life and you present it so extremly well. Bravo!
Daria Endresen  John, I'm so immensely happy to see you here and read your comment :))
I wish my story wasn't that sad but as I've already mentioned to someone, my creativity wakes up only when I'm down.. Hopefully the bright and happy chapters are yet to come :)
Thank you so much for dropping in and writing these words, I appreciate it a lot :)
Anna Lepke  You have also a happy pictures (At least one I remmeber). So it's more that extreme feelings makes you creative, sweety. ;)
Daria Endresen  Hehe, I guess you're right about that ;)
But then again - one happy image against.. how many sad ones? :p
Daria, that is one piece of work.. A strong message added with artistry, light and feel.. The crack in the wall adds to the feel, and those plants climbing the wall as well. The plant gives me a sense of hope, everything rises, even if it is flattened down.. The wound over the stomach and its location is for me however, very strong message together with the title.. Very impressive art Daria, as usual!
/
E
Anna Lepke  I don't see a wound in the stomach, I see she is missing her ring-finger. (More symbolism.) Chopped off. But i might be wrong.
Elisabeth Gustafson  Well, that is the beauty of photography, you see them and interpret them from how you visualize it. Like a tarot card i guess! Cheers!
Daria Endresen  Couldn't agree with you more on that, Elisabeth :)
Daria Endresen  You're right. Straight to the point.
:)
Daria Endresen  Elisabeth, you know how much I love your comments! thank you very much :)
You're gonna laugh but the crack in the wall is real :D - my house is falling apart, lol. I thought it would fit in nicely in the image and that's why didn't clone it away.
Very happy you liked this work, thanks again :)
Elisabeth Gustafson  :O)) I guess your house isn't that different from mine then! I have builders here, trying to save my house from water-damage..! I kind of figured out that the crack where there for real and i really think it adds to the feel! No cracks, no personality, dont you think? :O))
Cheers!

Daria Endresen  Haha, then we understand each other perfectly ;)
We've been repairing this house for almost a year now and there's still lots of work to do.. well, at least I have cool location for taking pics :D
Hope your house will survive! :))

Daria,
your wonderful pictures have long since surpassed the stage of just "wow, what a beautiful woman". They always go deeper, make you think tell a story and bind you to the image for a while. This one is no exception.
Others have already said that the colors are wonderfully used here, how the editing, composition and emotion are amazing.
I completely agree... as always :)
All the best
Michael
