Judy W Sometimes I look at a photo and POW - it hits me with a quick comment with a superlative. This certainly fits that category. Sure, I could analyze it to death but that first impression is the one that lasts.

King Douglas Oh, Judy, you know as well as I do that few things are perfect. I appreciate the compliment, but don't you think this could use a bit more highlight and shadow detail? Anyone reading all the comments on this page will think I'm beating a dead horse, but I consider comments between viewers and photographers to be mini têtes-à-tête.

Great light and composition. The restricted tonal range creates such atmosphere and leaves the viewer wanting to know more about both your subject and the scene they find themselves in. Very good work.

I'm glad you and the screeners enjoy the restricted tonal range because I didn't have a quality scan to work from. Hey, if it work, it works, but I would have preferred to carry a bit more highlight and shadow detail that I've presented here.

King, this could be taken directly from my memories as a teen. I'm deeply touched and moved by this piece. WOW!

King Douglas Thanks, Angela. Were you drinking from an early age? Oh, now I've gone and belittled your wonderful comment, which I do appreciate. I'm so pleased that an image of mine has touched and moved you.

I was at the dog park yesterday with my Ms. Wonderful and her new puppy. There were plenty of dogs and dog owners there. One dog reminded me of a pet I had as a child and I told the owner that his dog was sparking some cherished childhood memories. A fellow standing next to him said to me, "Maybe this is the same dog. I hear this breed live long lives."

I did the math. I'm 64. I was remembering a dog I had when I was ten. "Fifty-four years?" I asked in well-grounded disbelief. He just grinned and said he couldn't be bothered keeping count. I think he was giving me a compliment and making a joke at the same time. The dog didn't look that old.

A very beautiful image, King, you're not only mastering the light but you are also a light finder, if I can say so...the light here has the same magic as in your 'Day Dream Daze' another of my favorites from your work. What more could be said? I love it!

I believe that so much of what moves, pleases and captivates us in photography is the play of light and shadow, so I appreciate your comment. This is copied from a print. When I finally find and scan the negative, I hope to have more highlight and shadow detail. I find the contrast here too extreme for my taste.

King Douglas Thanks, Mel. Personally, I find the contrast to be too extreme--I wish there were a bit more shadow detail. I think that this is a copy of a print. If and when I find the negative, I'm pretty sure I can carry both more shadow detail and more highlight detail.
