Such a powerful image!
gerard sexton  Thank you Faddoush these moments are why I continue to walk the streets of London looking for the original often only finding the unusual these moments are the encouragement to search some more.

very brilliant is the context Gerard... still I wonder if the phrase "Is this real life" was personally typed? because there's this shadow under the word "life" which makes me wonder.

gerard sexton  Mina thank you for your comment. It is interesting that you choose to believe the sign may not be "real". If the shadow doesn't look convincing why do you think that anyone would add the words after?
Mina  No... just anyone's eyes! I'll keep mine downward at the image. :-)
and honestly other than the fact I wish the man's feet were fully shown in the frame, this is real Perfect reality show on its own scale.

honored to follow your works always.
gerard sexton  ..hey me too! My memory is poor on whether the original was crooked & in straightening it I cropped off the soles or if in taking it I couldn't quite frame it perfectly. At the time I was in the road & taxis were stopping to let me take the shot but as you can imagine only for a brief while as taxi drivers are rarely that patient! so I got what I could crooked or poorly framed!

Honoured to have you as supporter!

No comment! Is that London? Big scenery of life for street photographers! Thanks for sharing with us!
gerard sexton  True for me too but then there is an image on every page of our lives that may or may not be 1x material. Take them regardless just seize the moment!

very strong image Gerard, strong story here. mal
gerard sexton  hey mal nice you stopped by. its a good feeling getting published here the effort going through so many (not as many as some) rejections pays dividends. being part of this community is sometimes infuriating but if you remain positive & don't let rejection equate to failure it can inspire you to a more thoughtful approach to image making. i doubt i am no different from many in that i get blinkered into thinking an image is good because after taking so many frames i convince myself its almost a certainty one is good. the reality is the opposite especially in this type of documentary style. as you say the story needs no more telling here it smacks you in the face. whoever coined the phrase a picture is worth a thousand words was one smart cookie
Mal Smart  great attitude Gerard, even the few pro's here get rejected sometimes. This image needs no introduction, images with a story and impact will always do well here.

Good shot, and a very nice conversion to B&W. Think I have to have a look at that software, NOW! Struggling with converting, and just posted one B&W, more or less to get some feedback after rejection..
gerard sexton  lars thanks when i was working full time a colleague was a real help on bnw conversions his technical knowledge led him to publish a rather detailed book on the subject titled "way beyond monochrome" that though it largely baffled me it hitherto encouraged me to look deeper. thankfully the digital darkroom is far more accessible for a techno moron like myself & plugins like the nik software are ideal tools to advance my experimentation. what i like about it is the film conversation menu that offers such a range of possibilities.
Lars Grepstad  Testing it now. Looks promising. Regards, another techno moron..

A very sad feeling in this shot.... You have captured the difference between rich and poor in a very powerful way.Great b/w shot
Best regards Carola
gerard sexton  carola thank you so much. i was gifted the opportunity just had to make the most of it. interesting to see the screening feedback. sure some would have cloned out the paper but hey it was there but maybe i could have cloned out the centrally placed small white spec.

Very good Gerry... streetphotography the way I like it. humorous, but with a very wry undertone. Leaves the viewer not knowing whether to laugh or to cry.
gerard sexton  koen thanks i appreciate your stopping by & leaving a comment.
