This is precious, Emily. It seems she is growing up; her look in this picture seems to go beyond the years of a 5-year-old. I love the expression and that ring on her little thumb! :o)

The white door frame takes a little to much attention IMO - but beautifull model and posture :-).

the thing that impressed me in screening was that you had been quite restrained with the processing of this one Em, it has a lovely everyday type of feel, you have allowed her expression tell the story and provide the mood, very lovely shot. mal

She is really good at these ambiguous expressions, which make your portraits so interesting!

Emily Bem Thanks, Martin! These expressions come quite natural. I rarely coach her in anything and she really doesn't pose for me much. When I think it's a good opportunity for pics, I just have my camera on hand and watch her as she goes about her business. :) She's five, which is a good age for these kind of honest personality shots...hehe! :)

Great expression, the "windy" hair adds. She looks sad. Or giving a feeling of remorse/regret...

PS. To me there is a pink tone in the whites that I find a little off. Is that intentional? DS

Emily Bem If you are talking about the white strip on the wall, that's how it really is...unfortunately! lol! :) We did some painting and meant to come back to it to give it another coat of white, but it hasn't happened yet. That strip WAS pink :)

Thanks so much for your thoughts! I liked the windy hair too. This was a pretty candid shot and fan in the hair was luck...hehe:)

Thomas Ljungberg I know all about "coming back" to fix the last things. I don't know how many unfinished projects I have in my house.
Well, if you don't want this to be documentary shot I guess it's easy to fix with a hue adjustment. But in the house, it will require some real work... ;-)
